WYOU Honors Volunteer


At tonight's WYOU board meeting, Executive Director Barbara Bolan presented a special plaque to honor the many hours of work that volunteer Beth Zurkowski has given to the station. Beth went above and beyond the call of duty during last spring's pledge drive, and her efforts continued to assist the station for this summer's Hands-On event.

Barbara Bolan in UW Union Theater Newsletter

WYOU Executive Director Barbara Bolan was recently interviewed in the University of Wisconsin's Union Theater newsletter. Barbara took the leadership reins here at WYOU back in October 2008, but before that, she worked for entertainment impresario Miles Copeland. Their last colaborative effort resulted in the Bellydance Superstars which is coming to the Wisconsin Union Theater March 26th. Read the interview here.

And coming to WYOU in March, the Bellydance Superstars filmed Live in Paris. Stay tuned for more details.

WYOU Attends the UW Public Service Fair

WYOU Executive Director Barbara Bolan and Eric Allin, the station's Technical Director, along with board members Heidi Johnson and Harry Waisbren were all on hand today to answer questions at the 2009 University of Wisconsin Public Service Fair. The fair is a collaborative effort between the Letters & Science Career Services office and the Morgridge Center for Public Service. The purpose? To allow students and non-profit organizations to connect and explore intern/volunteer opportunities.

By the end of the day, WYOU had signed up 15 potential volunteers for the station.

WYOU November Board Meeting this coming Tuesday

The new WYOU Executive Director Barbara Bolan has now been on staff for about a month and things are moving forward at the station. Change is in the air and things are looking up. Want to learn more about WYOU? Come sit in on the monthly board meeting. It's open to the public.

WYOU Monthly Board Meeting Tuesday


The WYOU board meets the last Tuesday of every month and is open for all members to attend. Meetings start at 6:30 pm and are held at the WYOU Studios, located at 609 East Washington Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin.

You'll have a chance at tomorrow's meeting to meet Barbara Bolan, the station's brand new Executive Director.

She's been with us just a little over a week, and the winds of changes have already begun to blow baby! New WYOU Executive Director Barbara Bolan is meeting producers, seeing how things work, amd settling in here at Madison's only community television station. But if we are to survive as a self-sustaining community resource, she knows we're going to need the support of the community to do it.

WYOU Hire's New Executive Director!

We're back on track! After several months of searching, we've finally found our new leader. Barbara Bolan took the reins as the new WYOU Executive Director this week.

As Madison's Community Access TV, WYOU is looking to redefine who we are and where we're going in this age of new media and limited PEG funding. And Barbara is just the person to help us do it. With over 30 years experience in marketing and working with such major artists as The Police, U2 & R.E.M., she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and skills to make us self-sustaining.
